Nous sommes arrives Saturday, Jul 21 2007

Jeff and I arrived in Benin yesterday evening. We are staying on the grounds of a monastery called Saint Jean Eudes in Cotonou. So far all is well. I’ve gotten some more shots, received my medical kit, and been tested in French. Mostly, I am tired and want to sleep. We haven’t been given a chance to explore yet. We’re driven around in a lovely air conditioned shuttle bus, so I can’t complain… although it’s not that hot… yet.  What I have seen in Cotonou so far is from the window of that bus. I’ve seen streets lined with magasins and stalls selling everything from shirts to gas. Anyways, there is a long line in the computer lab so I will give someone else a turn.

Check out the USPS guidelines for what you can’t send us in Benin, as well as postage rates: Country Conditions for Mailing – Benin

With all that duly noted, expect current addresses (starting July 20, 2007) and up-to-the-minute (that we get to an internet café) lists of stuff we’d rather not live without on our Care Packages page.
